LLC cost by state: what you pay in year one and every year after
Short answer. For a single-member LLC formed in November 2026, the confirmed fees run from about $50 (Arizona) to $890 (California) in year one, and from $0 (Texas, Arizona and Ohio) to $810 (California) each year after. Forming in Wyoming and then registering in your home state costs more in every state we cover, because you still pay your home state.

How to read this
- Texas and Florida look cheap, but the yearly filing is the catch. Texas charges no annual LLC fee but needs a franchise tax report and Public Information Report every May 15, even at $0 owed. Florida's annual report is due January 1 to May 1.
- California is the expensive one. The $800 annual tax is owed even with zero revenue.
- New York's big number is publication. New York requires newspaper publication within 120 days of forming; the Brooklyn (Kings County) price is not confirmed, so it is shown as an unverified estimate, not a total.
- Arizona and Ohio have no annual LLC filing, but each has a catch. Arizona may require three newspaper notices within 60 days (no official price), depending on your statutory agent's county. Ohio's Commercial Activity Tax only starts above $150,000 of taxable gross receipts.
- Nevada has no state income tax, but a flat $350 every year. The $150 annual list and $200 State Business License are owed even with zero revenue.
- Tennessee's catch is the franchise and excise tax. Even a single-member LLC owes the $100 minimum franchise tax every year on top of the $300 annual report; a sole proprietor does not. Michigan is the cheap one: a $50 filing and a $25 annual statement.
- A Wyoming LLC does not avoid your home state's costs. If you live and work in a state, you generally register there as a foreign LLC and pay its fees too.
